Walk-ups OK for SHS PAC

Springtown defenders break up a pass to an Aledo Bearcat during the Porcupines’ win when SHS hosted a 7-on-7 tournament May 26.

Hoops, softball summer camps also here next week

As quickly as summer camps arrived, they are now on the way out.

Just two remain – a pair of boys hoops camps and softball – but a multi-week workout event, the Porcupine Athletes Course (PAC), is ready to go.
Next month comes an elite volleyball camp.
For the PAC, participants will take part in one of three morning sessions:
• 7-8:45 – boys grades 10-12
• 9-10:45 – girls grades 7-12

• 9-10:45 – boys grades 7-9
The fee is $120 and walk-ups are welcome.
A three-week period will be followed by a break over July 4 – from June 28 until July 9 – then comes a concluding three-week set.
Springtown’s own coaches will direct the PAC which replaces the Performance Course offered in previous years.
The PAC will be conducted at the Multi-Purpose Center on the high school campus.
Payment arrangements are available upon request.
The two camps that run June 11-14 round out the regular camp schedule – with the volleyball exception.
Two boys basketball camps are set. The first is for incoming grades K-8 and runs from 8:30- 11:30 a.m.
The other is an elite boys hoops camp for grades 9-12. It runs from 1-4 p.m. Both cost $60 and will be conducted at the SHS gym.
The softball camp is slated for the SHS diamond for grades 3-9; it, too, is $60 and goes from 8-11:30 a.m.
The elite volleyball camp will again be led by Julie Green, coach of reigning 5A champions Coppell and ESPNHS Coach of the Year.
Also returning is Holly Hutson, who will soon take the head coaching reins of the new Saginaw high school, Chisholm Trail.
The SHS camp costs $100 and is set for July 26-28.
Registration forms are available at the AD office or online at www.springtownisd.net under the Athletics tab.
