County taking part in nationwide Clear the Shelters event

Adoption fees waived Saturday, Aug. 18

If you’re in the market for a new companion look no further than the Weatherford Parker County Animal Shelter.
On Aug. 18th, the shelter – which houses all abandoned animals from Parker County – will participate in the nationwide Clear the Shelters event from 9:30 a.m.- 5 p.m.
During this one-day event, adoption fees are waived in an effort to find more pets loving homes.
The WPCAS has taken part annually in Clear the Shelters since it began in 2014.
“This is just such a huge event and an awesome opportunity for everybody to be a part of something so huge,” said Dustin Deel, director of the shelter.
Visit the WPCAS, 403 Hickory Lane in Weatherford, or go to www.cleartheshelters.com for a full list of participating shelters and detailed information.
History of Clear the Shelters
The inaugural event began with only 38 shelters in North Texas and local sponsors NBC 5 and Telemundo 39.
This year’s efforts expect to see hundreds of shelters participating nation-wide.
To date, Clear the Shelters has given second chances to more than 150,000 animals.
