SISD takes first steps in Guardian program

Following a lengthy executive session discussion in part on the topic, the Springtown ISD board of trustees voted shortly before midnight July 23 to adopt changes to two local policies that will allow the district to pursue the School Guardian program.

Such a program would permit certain teachers to be armed on campus.

Superintendent Mike Kelley said it is just the first of several steps needed before the program can be put in place and be fully operational on campuses in the district.
